You're reading: Parliament authorizes Turchynov to sign laws

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has authorized acting President and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Oleksandr Turchynov to sign the laws that were adopted since February 21 until the election of a new president. 

A total of 316 MPs voted for the respective decision on Tuesday.

On Feb. 22, the Verkhovna Rada removed Viktor Yanukovych from office and scheduled early presidential elections in Ukraine for May 25, 2014.
