You're reading: Parliament returns to work after break

The Verkhovna Rada continued its morning plenary meeting on Tuesday after a break announced because of a scuffle between Party of Regions and Svoboda members of parliament.

After a break of more than an hour, the parliamentary leadership entered the session hall, and Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Rybak allowed Svoboda faction leader Oleh Tiahnybok to finish his speech.

Svoboda lawmakers, who blocked the rostrum and presidium in the session hall during the break, unblocked the work of parliament at the speaker’s request and took their seats in the hall.

As reported, a scuffle erupted between MPs from the Svoboda and Party of Regions factions near the parliament’s rostrum during Tiahnybok’s speech. The Verkhovna Rada speaker announced a break in the meeting.
