You're reading: Parliament votes down moratorium on increase of retirement age

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has voted down a bill on the prevention of the worsening of retirement benefits for Ukrainian citizens.

A total of 155 of the 400 lawmakers registered in the sitting hall voted for the document on March 21.

According to the author of the bill, member of the BYT-Batkivschyna parliamentary faction Andriy Pavlovsky, "in its law, the opposition proposes to give up plans to increase the retirement age."

It was proposed in the bill to put a ban on the increase of the retirement age, the minimum length of service and pensionable service until January 1, 2030.
