You're reading: Party of Regions lawmaker says opposition is irresponsible

The calls and slogans of the opposition are aggressive and their actions are irresponsible, but it is easier and more convenient than to work and do something useful and necessary for the people and for the country, a member of the Party of Regions faction in parliament, Yevhen Murayev, has said.

“The fact that so many people took the streets in the capital is an absolute confirmation that Ukraine is a democratic state. However, hooliganism and open provocations, broken windows of Kyiv City State Administration, the seizure of public and administrative buildings, the buildup and escalation of emotions and passions, and instigation by opposition leaders is not just dangerous,” the Party of Regions’ press service quoted him as saying.

“There has already been the year 2004 in the political history of today’s revolutionists, and it’s a pity that those who were on the Maidan [Independence Square in Kyiv] forgot how they were betrayed. And today people are being openly used – they are being used for their own PR, for the organization of provocations, for the fulfillment of tasks assigned to them by foreign curators, and for the working out of the money aimed at destroying the Ukrainian state. And the worst thing is that their calls and slogans are aggressive and their actions are irresponsible! They have to understand that when there is a large crowd of people, it’s impossible to control their reaction to what is happening. But it’s important to know and understand that if something happens in the crowd, they will not take responsibility for this, they will immediately blame the authorities. Such actions are not a way out. It’s easier and more convenient than to work and do something useful and necessary for the people and for the country,” he said.
