The State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has denied reports spread by Ukrainian mass media about the alleged providing of former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko with the right to a phone call.

“Online portals are commenting on the information on the alleged
providing of convicted Yuriy Lutsenko with the right to a telephone call
after his return from Chernihiv Regional Clinical Hospital. This
information is not true and miscolored,” the press service said.

“To objectively inform the public on the issue, the State
Penitentiary Service reports that on December 7, 2012 (according to the
preliminarily comprised schedule) convicted Lutsenko was provided with
such a possibility. The total duration of his phone call was 38
minutes,” reads the report.
