Ukraine's ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, who has been accused of abuse of power while signing the 2009 gas supplies contracts with Russia and is being kept in a detention facility, has again rejected a medical examination, the press service of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine has reported.

According to the penitentiary service, on September 6 and 7 Kyiv’s Pechersky District Court Judge Rodion Kireyev permitted medical workers from the Health Ministry institutions, including Tymoshenko’s personal doctor and nurse, to examine Tymoshenko on the territory of the detention facility in Kyiv.

But on September 9 Tymoshenko again refused to undergo a medical examination, according to the press service.

The management of the detention facility informed Tymoshenko in written form that all actions of the facility staff and the medical commission from the Health Ministry comply with the current legislation and do not infringe her rights, in particular, the right to the confidentiality of her private medical records.

Tymoshenko was again warned about her personal responsibility for her health if she refuses to undergo medical examinations.
