The European Commission and Poland's Foreign and Interior Ministries have helped the Ukrainian Interior Ministry to acquire 2,000 NATO-type bulletproof vests and Kevlar helmets, Ukrainian Deputy Interior Minister Serhiy Chebotar told the Channel 5 television station.

“The Interior Ministry of Poland, the European Commission and other
structures, including the Embassy on Poland in Ukraine, helped us
because these bulletproof vests are not easily available – not only
Ukraine, but also NATO units need this crucial military item. However,
bearing in mind the situation in Ukraine, they agreed to sell us these
2,000, although we had asked for 5,000,” Chebotar said.
