The police have detained 19 persons for illegal behavior near the Great Patriotic War Museum in downtown Kyiv.

“Nineteen young persons were detained for illegal behavior near the Great Patriotic War Museum in Kyiv. They were taken to the district police station, which would look into the circumstances and establish the culpability of each detainee,” the public relations division of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry’s Kyiv police department said.

Administrative charges were brought against the detainees under article 173 of the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism). The police said they would be freed on the pledge to appear at court for hearing of their administrative cases.

Earlier reports said 15 young persons wearing masks were detained for trying to provoke participants in the communist rally near the Great Patriotic War Museum.
