You're reading: Police investigate assault on journalist in Kramatorsk

A journalist in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region was beaten up, according Ministry of Interior's spokesman in Donetsk, who said police are investigating the alleged assault.

Oleksiy Ladyka, a journalist with the Eastern Project (Vostochnyj Proekt) newspaper, on Nov. 11 filed a complaint with police against unknown assailants, who broke his camera.

"There was a fight in front of the newspaper’s office. There were a lot of men with bottles of beer in their hands. One of the men was very aggressive. I left the office to record video footage of the fight. The next thing I knew my head was spinning and someone said, ‘We’d better call the police,’" Ladyka wrote in his Livejournal blog.

Kramatorsk is a center for machine building located about 80 kilometers north of Donetsk.
