Ukrainian citizens are mostly opposed to the country joining NATO, the Razumkov Center sociological service said, citing its April poll.
According to the survey, when asked if a referendum on joining NATO was held next Sunday, how one would vote, 36.7% of respondents said they would vote for it, 41.6% against, 6.4% would not vote, and 15.4% failed to respond.
Joining NATO is supported by 67% of citizens in western Ukraine and 46.9% in central Ukraine (with 27.7% against), the poll showed.
Meanwhile, most respondents in southern and eastern Ukraine (60% and 68.4%, respectively) said they would be opposed to Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
The survey was held on April 25-29 and involved 2,012 respondents, who were over 18 years old in all Ukrainian regions, except for Crimea. The sampling error does not exceed 2.3% with 0.95% probability.
