The construction of a helipad on Park Alley in Kyiv for Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych is being funded by an investor, Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov has said.

"It is not being constructed at the expense of budget funds – that is why the investor expected some compensation for constructing this helipad," Popov told reporters on Thursday, while commenting on reports, according to which a building that is being constructed together with the helipad would be used for entertainment and leisure purposes.

"I cannot say right now what will be the purpose of the premises on the first and second floors, as the main purpose is the helipad," he said.

Popov promised to read the documents on the facility.

Earlier some media reported that a casino, a disco club, a restaurant, a cigar hall and other entertainment establishments would be opened in the building below the helipad on Park Alley.

It was expected that the helipad construction would cost some Hr 60 million.

It is planned to construct a special road from the helipad to Bankova Street, so that the president could use it to reach the presidential administration.

As reported, on Dec. 28, 2010 Kyiv City Council allocated to the Amadeus Co. Ltd. a land plot 2.18 hectares in area on Park Alley in Pechersky district of Kyiv for the construction of the engineering and transport infrastructure.
