MOSCOW - Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Minister Petro Poroshenko said resumed exports of Ukrainian cheese to Russia will cut the bilateral trade deficit.

"Whichever terms reporters choose to call it – cheese wars or something else – we can say today that this process is over thanks to the sides’ effective coordination," Poroshenko told the press in Moscow on April 17 after talks with chief of the Russian consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko.

"Both manufacturers and consumers are interested in this, and Russia and Ukraine, too. Our trade has a deficit. Cheese accounts for 20% of the Ukrainian agricultural exports in money terms, which is a serious share," he said.
