You're reading: Poroshenko plans to speed up work on rail and ferry link between Ukraine, Bulgaria

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov have discussed the conditions of building a road from Odesa to Sofia, as well as establishing railway and ferry communication between the two countries.

“Poroshenko noted the restoration of direct air flights between Kyiv and Sofia. He expressed hope after today’s talks the work on establishing railway and ferry communication between Ukraine and Bulgaria will be accelerated,” the presidential press service said.

The parties also discussed the conditions of building a highway from Odesa to Sofia and agreed to sign an agreement on the introduction by Bulgaria of long-term free visas for Ukrainian citizens.

Poroshenko invited Boyko Borisov to make an official visit to Kyiv.
