Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has proposed appointing a foreigner as head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau.

“I have a concrete proposal for all those involved in the appointment of the head of this extremely important institution [the Anti-Corruption Bureau]. I propose inviting to this post a person from outside Ukraine,” he said in an extraordinary address on Ukraine’s domestic and international situation at the Verkhovna Rada on Thursday, Nov. 27.

“He will have an advantage – no connections in the Ukrainian political elite,” Poroshenko said.
