Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on amendments to the law of Ukraine on state social assistance to needy families for the social protection of family members of ATO participants, adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on July 14, 2016.

According to the presidential press service, the law is aimed at improving the social protection of family members of ATO participants.

“The implementation of the law will improve the financial situation of low-income families, whose members are involved in the anti-terrorist operation. The act enters into force on the day following the day of its publication,” the report reads.

The amendments stipulate income of these families does not take into account the wages of military personnel, who are directly involved in the anti-terrorist operation for the time of its implementation.
