You're reading: Poroshenko signs three bills of visa-free package

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed three bills of the package necessary for the establishment of the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the European Union, however the consultations concerning the bill on electronic declaration system with the European Commission continue.

These documents include the bill on the procedures of the seizure of property and the institute of special confiscation, the bill on the improvement of the activities of the National Agency for Tracing, Recovery and Management of Crime Assets, and the law on the functioning of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the presidential press service reported.

The consultations on the law on electronic declarations with the European Commission continue with the view of developing the possible amendments. The president believes these amendments would meet the best European practice, the press service reported.

Poroshenko also called for the immediate appointment of all the members of the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption.

As reported, during the last plenary session on Feb. 16-19, the Verkhovna Rada endorsed the remaining bills of the ‘visa-free package’, namely: bill optimizing the work of the Ukrainian national agency for identification, recovery, and management of the proceeds of corruption, and other crimes (No. 4056); bill on asset seizure and special confiscation (No. 4054); bill amending Ukraine’s law to counter corruption on the electronic system of submission and disclosure of declarations by state and local self-government officials (No. 3755); bill requiring transparency in organizing the work of a special anti-corruption prosecutor’s office (No. 4055).
