Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and Italian Ambassador to Ukraine Fabrizio Romano in connection with the completion of their diplomatic missions in Ukraine.

“Poroshenko thanked Pyatt and Romano for their contribution to the development of the bilateral dialogue of Ukraine with the United States and Italy, for defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine amid the Russian aggression, and wished them success in their future professional careers,” the press service of the Ukrainian president said in a statement issued on Monday evening.

The head of state drew special attention to the sharp deterioration of the security situation in Donbas, which is an obstacle to further progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

“Pyatt and Romano noted the continued support by the United States and Italy of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, as well as the ongoing reform process in Ukraine,” the statement reads.

They also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation of Ukraine with the U.S. and Italy.
