PRAGUE - The Senate, the upper house of Czech parliament, Thursday, Aug. 16, called on Ukraine to release political prisoners and enable medical treatment of the imprisoned former Ukrainian PM Yulia Tymoshenko in another country.
The Senate joined a similar declaration that was adopted by the
Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) parliamentary
assembly in July. Senators say in their resolution that Ukraine must guarantee
independent judiciary, mainly in view of the right to a just trial and
respect for the principle of equality in criminal proceedings.
