You're reading: Preparations for World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships to start in Kyiv

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed local executive government agencies to properly prepare for and hold the 2013 World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Kyiv.

According to the president’s instruction, which was published on his Web site on Thursday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov was ordered to ensure the preparation of the Sports Palace (Kyiv) for the tournament by August 1, as well as to bring other facilities of sports infrastructure into line with the requirements of the rules of the International Gymnastics Federation.

In addition, the prime minister should ensure by August 28 the measures on the protection of public order, the provision of medical services and the strengthening of control over the sanitary and epidemiological situation during the holding of the championship, as well as to ensure the creation, with the participation of the Ukrainian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation, of proper conditions for the preparation of Ukrainian athletes for the championship.

Head of Kyiv City State Administration Oleksandr Popov was instructed to take measures by August 28 to ensure the proper functioning of transport and tourism infrastructure in Kyiv, develop the hospitality zone at the time of the tournament, as well as to place relevant ads with the symbols of the championship.

The 32nd World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Kyiv’s Sports Palace from August 28 to September 1, 2013.
