Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has signed a law to send Ukrainian peacekeepers to participate in the UN mission in Congo, the presidential press service reported on Friday.

On Dec. 22, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the president’s decision to send a peacekeeping contingent to participate in the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the law, 200 Ukrainian servicemen will be sent to Congo.

The law passed by the Verkhovna Rada says that the costs for Ukrainian peacekeepers’ participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo will be covered from the Ukrainian state budget and later then by the United Nations.
