Kharkiv - The problem of delivery of insulin and other essential medicines to the regions of conducting anti-terrorist operations (ATO) in Eastern Ukraine will be resolved in the near future, Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Valeria Lutkovska has said.

“We jointly with the Ministry of Health were resolving the issue… We together with the Health Ministry found a way out of this situation. I think people will be provided with the drugs in the near future,” she said at a press conference in Kharkiv.

She noted that the problem was related to both transportation of medicines and payment for them, because the work of the treasury in some areas, where anti-terrorist operations were carried out, was suspended.

Her Russian counterpart Ella Pamfilova, in turn, citing information from charitable organizations, called the situation with medical aid and provision of medicines in the area of anti-terrorist operations “catastrophic.”

“The situation with drugs for diabetics and antiseptics is catastrophic… There are a lot of wounded people there, people cannot leave the region for some reasons. The situation with medicines is catastrophic,” she said.
