You're reading: Prosecution and Tymoshenko’s defense have different views on Ohryzko’s testimony

The state prosecutor in the gas case, Lilia Frolova, has said that former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko confirmed that former Ukrainian Premier Yulia Tymoshenko took the decision on her own to sign the gas supplies contracts with Russia in 2009.

"The witness [Ohryzko] clearly confirmed the fact that the former premier took an individual decision on signing the gas supplies contracts in 2009," she told reporters during a break in the court hearing on Thursday.

In turn, Tymoshenko’s lawyer, Yuriy Sukhov, stated that Ohryzko "clearly and unambiguously confirmed that the premier of Ukraine had the right to sign the Ukrainian premier’s instructions."

"Unfortunately, the court rejected a number of questions connected to relations between the witness and Yulia Tymoshenko, and connected to the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine," the lawyer said.
