You're reading: Prosecutor asks court to annul decisions on Aksionov’s appointment as Crimean prime minister

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has filed an appeal to the District Administrative Court of Kyiv to cancel a number of decisions adopted by the Supreme Council of Crimea.

“The appeal has been lodged with the District Administrative Court in Kyiv to annul a number of unlawful decisions of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Specifically, these include decisions to pass a no-confidence motion to the Council of Ministers of Crimea and terminate its powers, and to appoint Serhiy Aksionov as the head of the Council of Ministers of Crimea, as well as to organize and hold a [local] referendum on changing the status and powers of the autonomous republic,” the PGO’s press service reported.

“The conducted checks have revealed that these acts were passed in violation of the requirements of Articles 2, 19, 136, 137 of the Constitution of Ukraine, Article 37 of the Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, paragraph 21 of Part 2 of Article 9 of the law of Ukraine about the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Article 7 of the law of Ukraine on the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” the statement reads

The PGO’s press service stressed that the prosecutor’s office of Sevastopol also filed an appeal to recognize as unlawful and cancel those decisions made by local governments that show signs of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine.
