You're reading: Prosecutor General’s Office suspects Judge Volkova of committing crime

The deputy prosecutor general of Ukraine has reported that judge of Pechersky district court of Kyiv to Svitllana Volkova is suspected of committing a crime under Part 2, Article 375 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (passing a deliberately false judgment, which caused grave consequences).

“In the course of an investigation that was held by the prosecutor agencies of Kyiv it was established that the mentioned judge, understanding the deliberately untrue character of the ruling made, despite the requirements of the criminal procedural law, made a deliberately untrue decision, under which she declined a petition to prolong the term of placing in custody the commander of the former Berkut special task force,” reads a report from the PGO press service posted on Monday evening, Oct. 6.

As earlier reported, the judge chose house arrest and the release of Sadovnyk from custody in the courtroom as a measure of restraint.

“As a result a suspect of a grave crime, Dmytro Sadovnyk, escaped from his place of residence. At the moment the investigators of the PGO have put him onto the wanted list,” the PGO said.

As reported on Oct. 4, Interior Minister Advisor Anton Heraschenko said that Sadovnyk was put on the wanted list as he failed to return home at 11 p.m., and so is considered an escapee.

Sadovnyk was arrested in connection with the organizing the mass killings on Feb. 18-20, and two Berkut officers who were earlier sentenced to two months are suspected of being accomplices in the crime.
