The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine has said claims by former Prime Minister and Batkivschyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko that investigators are not allowing former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko to meet confidentially with his lawyer are false.
"Yesterday Yuriy Lutsenko came to the investigator for questioning with his lawyer," the media liaisons office of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on Wednesday.
"All these and other accusations by Tymoshenko against the prosecutor’s office are nothing but an attempt to put pressure on the investigation and an attempt to discredit it," the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
As reported, after the questioning at the Prosecutor General’s Office, Tymoshenko said that law-enforcers are infringing the rights of Lutsenko.
"He was questioned in a room in front of the one in which I was questioned. I heard Yura [informal form of Yuriy ] crying. And he was screaming because they were maltreating him, there is no doubt about it," she said.
"I heard him shouting and demanding they observe his rights, demanding to be allowed a confidential meeting with a lawyer, I felt that nobody was paying the slightest attention to the observance of rights," the politician said.
