Ukrainians need to step up control over the reforms related to the establishment of the supremacy of law, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt has said.

Speaking at a meeting of the “Open World” discussion club in Kyiv on July 26, Pyatt said that taking into account all the events and transformations in Ukraine over the past three years, he can say that the only area which needs to get tighter public control is that of the supremacy of law.

The ambassador said that it is very important to restore the trust of Ukrainians in courts and prosecution agencies, and that the constitutional reform and the appointment of a new prosecutor general are very important in this context.

Pyatt also praised the formation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the patrol police. Ukrainians are very enthusiastic about this, he added.
