You're reading: Rada postpones debating bill on excise tax on fuel retail sales to legal entities

The Verkhovna Rada has postponed debating on bill No. 2388a on payments of excise tax for fuel retail sales to legal entities.

The parliament lacked a quorum to debate the draft law developed by MPs Nina Yuzhanina and Ihor Nasalik.

Bill No. 2388a specifies that excise tax on fuel retail sales (currently fixed at 5 percent) should be paid irrespective of the buyer. Market operators believe have said that the tax should only apply to sales to individuals, while the State Fiscal Service says it should be paid for sales to legal entities as well.

Draft law No. 2388a also proposes amending the rate of excise duty on fuel retail sales from 5% to EUR0.042 per liter (regardless of the type of fuel).

As reported, this tax has been transferred to local budgets.
