Razgulyaevo restaurant, located at Stolychne highway in Kyiv, burnt down on Nov. 2. The Ministry of Emergency spokesperson said that the violation of fire safety rules in the ventilation system may have caused the initial spark.

The fire started at 4 p.m. and swept through the building quickly. Interfax news agency reported that 24 fire teams worked at the scene. All patrons were promptly evacuated. The fire was tamed four hours later. The roof and the whole attic of 4,300 ft were completely destroyed by the flames.

Razgulyaevo restaurant is a part of Mirovaya Karta chain. In comments to Segodnya daily, founder and manager Michael Don ruled out arson and promised to rebuild the restaurant.
Razgulyaevo was an upper/middle class eatery with Hr 100 average price for the main course.

It was apparently favored by politicians, including Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn and former prosecutor general Svyatoslav Piskun, among others. Dynamo football club players, whose training grounds are close to the restaurant, used to lunch and dine here.
