The Rostov region's court next week will schedule the date for considering the request made by the defense lawyers of Ukrainian citizen Nadia Savchenko, who is accused of killing Russian journalists, for her case to be sent to Moscow.

“The court said the materials have not arrived from Donetsk yet. The case will come next week and a hearing will be scheduled,” Mark Feygin, a lawyer for Savchenko, told Interfax on Aug. 6.

The Donetsk City Court postponed the preliminary hearing of the Savchenko case last week. The legal proceedings will continue after the Rostov region’s court makes a decision on the defense lawyers’ request for the case to be sent to Moscow.

Savchenko has been held under arrest in Russia since July 2014 on charges of complicity in the killing of Russian journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin in Luhansk Oblast.

She denies her guilt.

Savchenko was brought to pretrial detention facility No 3 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region, on July 25.

On July 13, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office reported that it had endorsed an indictment against Savchenko and forwarded the criminal case to the Donetsk City Court in the Rostov region.

On July 25, Savchenko was taken to Investigative Detention Facility 3 in Novocherkassk, Rostov region.
