Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that amid situation escalation in Ukraine he urged assessment of the volume of funds available for humanitarian purposes to support refugees from Ukraine.

“People run away from tension, from battle actions and from civil unrest, so they need money to travel or for medical care – in other words, this concerns the humanitarian support merit. Let’s see what is needed to be done here,” Medvedev said on July 28 at a meeting on regional budgets for 2016-2018 on housing and public utilities.

“I do not stipulate the volume of resources because this is to be confirmed,” the prime minister said.

The topic of displaced persons from Ukraine is a topic which cannot be ignored, Medvedev said. “Unfortunately, the situation in a number of regions of our neighbors remains quite tense,” he said.
