You're reading: Russia’s Lavrov congratulates Kozhara on his appointment as Ukraine’s foreign minister

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has congratulated his Ukrainian counterpart Leonid Kozhara on his appointment as the foreign affairs minister of Ukraine and wished him success.

The two ministers talked by phone on Wednesday, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s information policy department reported.

“During the conversation, Kozhara and Lavrov discussed the preparations for the seventh meeting of the subcommittee on international cooperation of the Ukrainian-Russian intergovernmental commission, which will be held in Chernivtsi on January 14 this year, as well as other relevant issues on the bilateral agenda,” the Foreign Ministry said.

As reported, Kozhara was appointed to the post of the foreign affairs minister of Ukraine on December 24, 2012. On January 3, 2013, he said that his Russian counterpart Lavrov would visit Ukraine on January 13-14.
