The head of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), Vasyl Hrytsak, has stressed the need for the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) to continue functioning despite the evidence SBU has obtained about its Russian group cooperating with Russian-separatist forces in Donbas.
“Conclusions will definitely be drawn because today we understand that the JCCC is needed […] to immediately investigate incidents of violation of the Minsk agreements […] The JCCC is needed but it is necessary to approach more seriously what exactly JCCC officers should do while in Donetsk, at the airport, in Horlivka and somewhere else,” Hrytsak said at a briefing in Kyiv on Feb. 9.
When asked if international partners have been informed about the Russian JCCC officers’ illegal activity, he said: “They definitely will be.”
