South Ossetian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Medoyev has received a delegation of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) led by DPR Supreme Council Chairman Denys Pushylin at the latter's request.

During the meeting, Pushylin handed an appeal to Medoyev addressed to South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov and South Ossetian parliamentary Chairman Stanislav Kochiyev on recognizing the DPR's independence.

Medoyev promised that the appeal would be immediately passed to Tibilov and Kochiyev.

The parties also discussed the situation in the southeast of Ukraine and prospects for its peaceful settlement.

The same day, Medoyev received a delegation of the self-proclaimed Sub-Carpathian Rus Republic led by its Prime Minister Petro Hetsko, who also handed him an address to Tibilov on recognizing the republic's independence.

Tibilov had earlier signed a decree on recognizing the Luhansk People's Republic's independence after receiving a relevant request from the South Ossetian parliament.

Kochiyev had told Interfax on Thursday that no such a request had been received from the DPR. "As soon as we receive such a request, we will be ready to make a constructive decision," he said.
