Donetsk -- The Ukrainian army repeatedly breached the truce in Donbas on Jan. 6, a spokesman for the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) militia staff told reporters on Jan. 7.

“Our positions were shelled 24 times. The shelling incidents were recorded throughout the line of contact. The army was using every type of weapons, from light arms to artillery,” the DPR representative said.

He had no information about possible casualties.

All is quiet in Donetsk now.

In turn, Kyiv claims militia shelling of army positions in Donbas.

“Besides a cold spell, the Christmas night in the ATO zone saw an increase in the number of overnight shelling incidents. Illegal armed units shelled positions of our servicemen 15 times in the period from 6:15 p.m. till 6 a.m.,” the army operation press center wrote on Facebook.

Bombardments started in the Donetsk sector, the press center continued.

“After that the town of Pisky was attacked by light arms, mortars and artillery from Donetsk, Volvo Center and Spartak seven times. The towns of Taramchuk, Petrovske, Vodiane and Opytne and the Donetsk airport weather station came under mortar fire as well,” Kyiv alleged.

There were artillery bombardments in the area of Chornukhyne in the Debaltseve sector from 10:25 p.m. till 10:30 p.m. Mortars shelled Olkhuvatka and Ridkozub, the press center said.

“Yet the provocations staged by the militants did not thwart Christmas celebrations by the Ukrainian army. Some units were even visited by priests,” the operation press center underlined.
