You're reading: Seven people killed in road accident in Rivne region

Seven people, including a child, were killed in a collision between a minibus and a truck in Rivne region on Thursday, the press service of the Emergencies Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

According to the media, six children were among the passengers of the minibus.

In addition, eleven passengers were injured in the accident, seven of them seriously.

The press service of the Emergencies Ministry reported that the accident occurred after 17.00 on the second kilometer of the western approach road to Rivne City, near the village of Velyka Omeliana in Rivne district. A Volkswagen minibus and a Renault truck collided.

All of the injured passengers were hospitalized in local hospitals, and nine ambulances attended the scene of the accident.

According to preliminary information, the passengers of the minibus were pilgrims returning from the Spring of Saint Anna in Zdolbuniv district (Rivne region).

The Emergencies Ministry’s employees have removed the injured passengers and the bodies of those killed in the accident from the vehicle.

An operative group of the Emergencies Ministry department in Rivne region is working at the scene of the accident.

An investigation is being carried out into the cause of the accident.
