CEDAR CITY — A group of legal professionals from Ukraine — including a police officer, a law professor, a paralegal and a legal interpreter — are spending time in Southern Utah to learn about the American Legal System with hopes of bringing change to their homeland in an exchange program sponsored by the Leavitt Institute for International Development.
“I think we
acquired quite an extensive experience here,” said Igor Semak, a
paralegal and law school graduate from Ukraine. “Not only knowledge of
how the judicial system works, but we saw the experience of the
attitude, the way of life, the way of coming all together for the
greater good in the United States.”
