Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has stressed the importance of Ukraine's presidential election results being recognized by all.

He said on Thursday that all concerned should have an interest in the
election being as fair as possible. Though, the German minister
acknowledged that the poll “might not be possible in some Ukrainian
towns,” AP agency reported referring to the minister’s statement.

After “a certain slowdown” in violence over the past nine days, he hopes the conflict won’t escalate again, the minister added.
