You're reading: Stirol pays Hr 1 million to each family of employees killed in ammonia pipeline blowout

PJSC Stirol Concern (Horlivka, Donetsk region) has transferred Hr 1 million to each family of six employees who were killed in an ammonia pipeline blowout at the enterprise on Aug. 6, Ostchem's press service reported on Friday.

“The compensation was transferred to accounts provided by relatives. Stirol covered the payment of all taxes associated with this compensation. The enterprise made all payments to the victims and their families in addition to the compensation envisaged by the legislation,” the press service said.

Ostchem added that Stirol was also fully funding the treatment and rehabilitation of all employees injured in the accident, as well as providing them with financial assistance.

“The size of this assistance was determined by a special commission created at the enterprise, which took into account the medical indications and social status of employees,” the press service reported.

According to Ostchem, two employees injured in the accident currently remain in the intensive care unit of the Donetsk regional clinical territorial medical association, and there is no threat to their lives.

As reported, there was an ammonia pipeline blowout during overhauls at plant No. 1 of PJSC Stirol Concern on Aug. 6. Six people were killed and around 30 people were injured in the accident.

Stirol is one of Ukraine’s biggest chemical producers. Ostchem is a managing company that coordinates the strategy of six fertilizer companies belonging to Group DF of Dmytro Firtash, four of which are located in Ukraine: Stirol Concern, Severodonetsk Azot, Cherkasy Azot and Rivneazot.
