Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski heads the list of top ten foreign ambassadors in Ukraine, whereas Ukraine's representative to the EU, Kostiantyn Yeliseyev, is the best Ukrainian ambassador abroad, according to a study conducted by the Institute of World Policy.

An Interfax-Ukraine reporter said that the presentation of the study’s results was held at the Institute of World Policy on Wednesday in the presence of foreign ambassadors and diplomats.

According to a survey of experts in international affairs, Ambassador Tombinski scored the most points among foreign ambassadors. U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine John Tefft is second, Polish Ambassador Henryk Litwin is third, former Georgian Ambassador Grigol Katamadze is fourth, and Russian Ambassador Mikhail Zurabov is fifth.

The top ten also includes Slovak Ambassador Pavol Hamzik, Swedish Ambassador Stefan Gullgren, German Ambassador Christof Weil, French Ambassador Alain Remy and Finnish Ambassador Arja Makkonen.

As for the rating of Ukrainian ambassadors abroad, it is headed by Ukraine’s representative to the EU, Yeliseyev. Ambassador to Germany Pavlo Klimkin is second, Ambassador to the United States Oleksandr Motsyk is third, Ambassador to Poland Markiyan Malsky is fourth, and Ambassador to Russia Volodymyr Yelchenko is fifth.

Among top ten ambassadors of Ukraine abroad also are Ambassador to Britain Volodymyr Khandohiy, Ambassador to Moldova Serhiy Pyrozhkov, Ambassador to Finland Andriy Deschytsia, Ambassador to Turkey Serhiy Korsunsky, and Ambassador to China Yuriy Kostenko.

“This ranking showed that the EU is very important for Ukraine, and here there is a great interest in it, because Ukraine’s representative to the EU Kostiantyn Yeliseyev took a leading position in the rating of Ukrainian ambassadors,” Tombinski said.

He expressed hope that all issues on the agenda of EU-Ukraine relations in the current year would be resolved and that Ukraine would get closer to the EU.
