Leader of the Svoboda parliamentary faction Oleh Tiahnybok has urged that on Oct. 14, which marks the birthday of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the parliament should proclaim that members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, led by Bandera, and soldiers of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army were fighters for Ukraine's state independence.
“On Oct. 14, we will mark the day of the restoration of the history of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. It must become a day of our Ukrainian victory. On this day we must come here and vote for the proclamation of members of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists and of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army as fighters for Ukraine’s state independence,” Tiahnybok told the Ukrainian parliament on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
