The leader of the Communist Party Petro Symonenko has congratulated Hugo Chavez on his re-election as president of Venezuela.
According to the Communist Party’s press service, Symonenko wished
him success fighting for economic and political sovereignty and against
“the transformation of Venezuela into a U.S. source of raw materials
colony and international capital.”
The leader of the party said all attempts of the internal forces to
organize the next “color” revolution, this time in Venezuela, had
collapsed because the social and economic policy of Chavez meets the
interests of ordinary people.
As reported, the president of Venezuela won at elections and will
hold the presidential post for a fourth time. He won 54.5% of the vote.
Forty five percent of the electorate voted for his main competitor,
opposition leader Henrique Capriles.
Chavez presented his program for the continuation of his socialist
reforms, in the context of which he has nationalized a number of big
companies. In Venezuela, the president is elected for a six-year term.
