You're reading: Turchynov enacts NSDC’s decision dated April 13 to urgently halt terrorist attacks and preserve Ukraine’s territorial integrity

 Acting President of Ukraine and Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov has signed an order enacting decision of the National Security and Defense Council dated April 13 "On urgent counter-terrorism measures and on preservation of territorial integrity of Ukraine." The councils' decision is a secret document, said the order posted on the president's Web site on April 14. The order comes into force on the day it has been posted.

On April 13, Turchynov said that the National Security and Defense
Council of Ukraine Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council has
made the decision to conduct an operation “against the current
encroachment on our state.”

“The National Security and Defense Council has made the decision to
launch a large-scale counter-terrorism operation with the use of the
armed forces,” he said on Rada television on Sunday evening.

He said the authorities would not allow the Crimean scenario to repeat itself in the eastern region.

Turchynov added that the Ukrainian leadership had been doing all it could to avoid casualties.

“But we are ready to rebuff attempts to commit an aggression and to upset stability, and armed terrorist actions,” he said.
