You're reading: Turchynov: Task of united opposition, Svoboda to cancel parliament’s ‘anti-national’ decisions

An important objective for the Batkivschyna united opposition and the Svoboda Party in a new parliament is to cancel the "anti-national decisions" taken by the current Verkhovna Rada, the head of the central election headquarters of the united opposition, Oleksandr Turchynov, has said.

“The joint position is to cancel all unconstitutional, illegal and
anti-national decisions that were taken by the current Verkhovna Rada,”
he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday, July 26.

According to the chairman of the council of the united opposition,
Arseniy Yatseniuk, the united opposition believes that Ukrainian
President Viktor Yanukovych is responsible for the adoption of
unconstitutional decisions by parliament.

“President Yanukovych is personally responsible for this as he has
signed 762 laws in an unconstitutional manner during his tenure,”
Yatseniuk said.

Svoboda Party leader Oleh Tiahnybok, in turn, said that one of the
first bills to be considered by the new parliament would be bills on the
impeachment of the president and the protection of the Ukrainian
language.

“We will publish not only a list of bills, but also the texts of the bills,” he said.

He also said that the new parliament would consider a draft
resolution on the resignation of the full composition of the government
led by incumbent Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
