Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said he hopes that Ukraine and Turkey will sign an agreement on the creation of a free trade area (FTA) soon.

“We are holding negotiations on an FTA and we hope to finish them soon and sign an agreement on free trade,” the minister said at the 11th conference of the heads of Ukraine’s diplomatic missions abroad in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He also said that Ukraine and Turkey are actively developing their relations. Particularly, recently the Turkish side cancelled visas requirements for Ukrainians, which has led to the number of Ukrainians traveling to Turkey growing by 20%.

In addition, Davutoglu expressed hope that the number of flight between Ukraine and Turkey would increase.

“We would like to see more economic activity between the countries,” the minister said.
