Turkey is ready to intensify its cooperation with Ukraine in the energy sphere, Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.
“We will develop cooperation in the spheres of electricity transportation, the construction of underground gas storage facilities in Turkey, and the joint production of hydrocarbons,” he said at the second meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council of Ukraine and Turkey in Kyiv on Thursday.
He also said that Turkey is ready to work on the integration of the electricity supply networks of the Black Sea Region states for electricity transportation between the countries.
According to Erdogan, Turkey realizes that Ukraine has a serious attitude to energy-related issues.
“That is why we want to intensify bilateral relations in the energy sphere,” he said.
In turn, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych noted that Ukraine is ready to develop cooperation in the joint production of energy sources and the development of transport infrastructure.
