Twenty tourists have been rescued after a ski lift in the Carpathians stopped due to an engine malfunction, the press service of the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry reported on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the village of Vyshka, Velyky Berezny district, Zakarpattia region, at noon on Tuesday, January 3.

The ministry said that the ski lift is 1,800 meters long and 10-15 meters high.

Rescue work lasted almost one-and-a-half hours.
