Early parliamentary elections may follow the presidential elections in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

"I think that as soon as the presidential elections are over, the first thing that is likely to be announced is new, early parliamentary elections. I will try to prevent this, but this is likely to happen," Tymoshenko said at a conference on reforming the healthcare sector in Kyiv on Thursday.

It is hard to predict what political group could form a majority at the parliament after early elections, the premier said.

The presidential elections in Ukraine are scheduled for January 17, 2010. The last parliamentary elections took place on September 30, 2007. Both the president and parliament are elected in Ukraine for five years.
