Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was moved to the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv early on Friday, Channel 5 has reported, referring to the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine.
Tymoshenko was removed from Kyiv’s pre-trial detention center at 05.00 in a wheelchair, because she cannot move on her own, according to the Ukrainska Pravda online publication.
The Kachanivska penal colony is located in a three-hour drive from Kyiv, the publication said.
Tymoshenko has been convicted to seven years in prison for abuse of office while signing the gas supply contracts with Russia in 2009 and cannot run for president under the Ukrainian legislation.
