The Kharkiv regional branch of the Batkivschyna Party is preparing to meet the party leader, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, near the building of the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv, after she was transferred from Kyiv's prison early on Friday.

"We are ready to meet the vehicle transporting her to [Kharkiv]. I think that we’ll meet her opposite the building of Kachanivska Female Colony No. 54," the deputy head of the party’s regional branch, Valeriy Dudko, told Interfax-Ukraine.

Tymoshenko was moved to the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv early on Friday, Channel 5 has reported, referring to the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine.

Tymoshenko has been convicted to seven years in prison for abuse of office while signing the gas supply contracts with Russia in 2009 and cannot run for president under the Ukrainian legislation.
