The lawyer of Ukrainian ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, Yuriy Sukhov has said he doubts that a sentence in the gas case will be announced this week.

"I don’t know who has information that the sentence is to be announced on Friday. I think there will be no sentencing this week, because it is impossible – debates have to be held, and the court has not considered our petitions," he told reporters on Wednesday.

According to the lawyer, there are about 65 petitions from Tymoshenko’s defense in the court.

He said that this week Judge Rodion Kireyev "would not even manage to go to the decision room to compose the text of the sentence."

Sukhov added that the trial on Wednesday would be completely dedicated to the questioning of Tymoshenko.
